Fabric Hardener - Pentart 101 - Episode 29

How to use Pentart Fabric Hardener

Fabric Hardener is a water-based medium that turns the fabric into a stiff, hard material.  Use either a brush or gloved hands to work the medium into the fabric evenly. Shape the fabric onto the surface with no adhesive. Allow this to dry for at least 24 hours.

Did you know that you can dye the Fabric Hardener with Pigment Powder, Batik Paint and Pigment Paste by adding just a few drops into the medium. Or even using other Pentart products onto the stiff fabric after it’s been dried and taken shape. When painting onto the dried stiff fabric, the fabric might get soft, but as it dries again it will regain its hardness.

Tip: If you love doing mixed media, then Fabric Hardener is the perfect medium to have.

Fabric Hardener will work with cotton and wool fibers. Drench your fabric before molding or shaping. To prevent the fabric from sticking to the surface, put plastic wrap between them.

Note: If using Fabric Hardener over decoupage paper, always varnish the work area before proceeding.
