Candle Glue - Pentart 101 - Episode 27

How to use Pentart Candle Glue

Pentart Candle Glue project example
Candle Glue used to decoupage rice paper on to candles. Project example

Candle Glue is suitable for decoupage with rice paper and napkins onto candles. This glue contains a flame retardant. Candle Glue can be also used for priming the surface after which you can apply Decor Tacky Glue or Metal Leaf Glue, and then add on Metal Leaf, different Pigment Powders, Art Mica, Glitters or Eco Glitter so the candle can be burned.

Tip: It’s best to decoupage onto a white/light colored candle versus a colored candle.

To burn the candle safely when using 3D Powder and Micro Beads, it is recommended to mix those products into the Candle Glue then apply onto the candle itself. Another great way is also to paint onto the candle but first having the candle primed with Candle Glue.

Even though Candle Glue is flame retardant, please don’t leave the burning candle unattended!

Sometimes the candle can have a waxy surface, and the product can have a tendency to pool. This is perfectly normal.

How Candle Glue Works on Decoupage:

The Candle Glue will soak into your paper, making it flame retardant.

When burning the candle, the paper itself will not burn.

As the candle is burning, the wax will hollow out the middle and the paper on the sides gets left intact, creating a hollow cylinder.

Tip: Before doing anything to the candle, always use the Candle Glue as a primer and allow it to dry naturally. Please do not use a heat gun to dry, as this will cause the wax to melt.

It is completely normal for the Candle Glue to remain a little tacky after it has dried. To solve this, once the Candle Glue is completely dry, apply a transparent wax over it. This will bring back the waxy feel back to the candle while polishing it to give a shiny surface.

If applying any resin/ air drying clay molds, Velvet Powder, or 3D decorations onto the candle, do not burn the candle as it is not going to burn safely. Another thing, don’t decoupage to close to the wick of the candle.
